Laboratory for hemocompatibility and performance tests of medical devices

eXcorLab offers clinical, animal and preclinical (in-vitro) studies in the fields of oxygenation, transfusion, dialysis, apheresis and cell culture:

  • Hemocompatibility of medical devices acc. to DIN EN ISO 10993-4 (e.g. dialyzers, oxygenators, hemoconcentrators, transfusion sets, adsorbers)
  • Physical and performance characteristics according to
    • DIN EN ISO 8637-1 (sieving coefficient, clearance, ultrafiltration rate, ultrafiltration coefficient, pressure drop, structural integrity, blood compartment integrity, endotoxin transfer)
    • DIN EN ISO 7199 (blood cell damage, gas transfer rate, integrity test)
    • ISO 8637-3 (sieving coefficient, filtration rate, pressure drop, hemolysis rate, structural integrity, blood compartment integrity)
  • Determination of damage, retention and activation of blood and blood components by transfusion devices/sets according to DIN EN ISO 1135-4, 1135-5
  • MAT test (monocyte activation test by pyrogens) according to Ph. Eur. 2.6.30
  • Clinical studies for dialyzers in close cooperation with a modern, local dialysis center

eXcorLab GmbH – Laboratory for hemocompatibility and performance tests of medical devices

eXcorLab GmbH was founded in 1983 as a biochemical and cell biology laboratory of the Akzo Nobel company and has been working on membrane applications in medicine and biotechnology ever since.

Our current focus is on conducting preclinical studies, which are crucial for the development of innovative medical products. Among other things, we carry out contract research in the fields of nephrology, dialysis, apheresis and cell culture.

A particular area of expertise in our work is haemocompatibility, an essential aspect of ensuring that medical devices and materials interact optimally with human blood and blood components. Through our extensive research and state-of-the-art technologies, we help to ensure the safety and efficacy of new therapies and products. At eXcorLab GmbH, we are passionate about pushing the boundaries of biomedical research and advancing human health.
